Tumor Research & The Impact That Science Has

By Rob Sutter

You want to be able to learn as much as possible and I think that you can say this about tumor research in general. It's apparent that there's a great deal of information to talk about and this will be able to come to the surface in a tremendous way. You want to be able to attain as many results as possible but how impactful is science? I'd like to think that it is very important, especially when you see that story after story is found on a consistent basis.

One of the examples that I can cite has been posted on Futurity.com and it talked about "drivers" in this regard. According to the article, research was conducted and it was found that 18 genes have been able to facilitate glioblastoma growths. Keep in mind that these are not only the most commonly seen but the most aggressive as well. Science has been put to use and, as a result, we have been able to learn more about this condition than we probably would have otherwise.

While science may not have found solid cures for this condition, it is comforting to know that we have been learning more about these tumors than we would have picked up on otherwise. For example, would we have been able to identify the actual severity of glioblastoma without it? What about the growth patterns within these tumors following surgery? Whether we realize it or not, various forms of science come into play, whether big or small, meaning that there is importance which should be cited.

Tumor research is one of those aspects which may never hit a standstill, especially when you think about how often details come to the surface. Drugs are needed for certain cases and I believe that they can have a tremendous impact in the long run. Science is needed in order for further details to be found; without it, details might not have come to the surface nearly as easily. It goes to show just how well it can help a number of organizations, Voices against Brain Cancer included.

To say that science is required when it comes to current tumor research efforts is something of an understatement. You want to be able to make the most of the details that you are able to uncover and you can be certain that there are many to take into account. That being said, how much can science grow as we continue to learn more and more about this condition? In my eyes, the possibility of methods developing and being created is limitless, no clear end being in sight.
